The Takedown Delimma: Henry, Ruger or Marlin?
The concept of the takedown rifle has been around for a very long time. Early designs date back to the 1800’s and were primarily marketed for hunters and sportsmen utilizing public transportation to reach their destination(s). Naturally, if you were boarding a train or ship and you did not want the other passengers to know you were packing a rifle, a takedown was the way to go.

Do you have any good advise for hacpanadible people. My body has slowly but surely gone kaput but my spirit has not and I want to be as prepared as I can be given the circumstances. I have been blessed with a number of challenging physical problems that have made mobility difficult. ( MS, painful arthritis, painful stenosis in my lower back, My knees are bone on bone, ouch, and I’ve also been gifted with fibromyalgia. (Alas one of the side affects of my MS along with several other fine symptoms.) I gravitate toward things on wheels, I’m a pretty good problem solver, and I have a dry sense of humor which has kept me sane. Long story short I could use some suggestions.
I think first thing I would consider is what do you need to make life livable as far as medications and equipment if confined to a wheelchair. After I was reasonably convinced that I could survive without being miserable beyond belief then I would set about to developing transportation that will work enabling you to get to safety if need be. A bicycle or anything that you can transport yourself on would be the best thing but I would make sure to design it and build it before any of this happens. Next thing is the ability to transport what you need. I think the biggest place many fool themselves with is huge stockpiles of food that they very well may have to abandon to relocate to a safer location. I would determine the most likely place you would attempt to go for safety and then make. Sure you have supplies there already. This includes food, water, medicine, firearms and ammunition which is in addition to the weapons you would carry on such a trip for protection.
I have some medical issues one being reoccurring bleeding ulcers and I fear health issues will more Than likely kill myself and many others before anything else Does. But all a person can do is prepare as much as possible then go forward.
Having a mode of transportation after an emp is vital and something that will become very sought after and a danger to anyone that has transportation. People will kill for transportation. I myself am looking for several vintage dirt bikes just for the speed and ability to get away from risks and get to my safe place If that is possible. But they do make alot of noise and they do draw attention so there’s danger in anything and everything you consider. I know I want something that will be good off-road as well as on the roads.
In a perfect world I would build a. Faraday cage and place electric bycycles fully charged and ones I could charge with solar after I’ve used them. This would provide speed if needed and it would allow you to move silently no matter if peddling or using the electric power. That’s expensive and not an option for most. The ability to move with stealth will be vital.
