I suppose I should introduce myself for those of you who care, or don’t care. My name is PJ and truth be told it’s not some weird prepper pseudonym, it truly is my name (or the initials to my name which of course could stand for Peanut Jerky….I digress). I started this blog in 2012 and worked hard it it for years, if you took the time to read everything you’d probably see a change in my writing style because 12 years is a long time. In the last few years things have lagged a bit but I am determined to bring this blog back to its former glory. There have been some major changes in my life over the last few years which I’ll share, it might help to get you to know me better. Before we do that, a quick history lesson.
- I started this blog in 2012 while a Captain in the US Army, stationed in Washington DC. The blog took off quickly and I had time on my hands, so I dove in head first.
- Over the next few years I continued to nurture the blog and it easily had over 100k unique visits a month, I had folks trying to throw advertising dollars and gear my way, I truly enjoyed it and posted as much as I could.
- I should mention here this was partially to document my journey as a prepper but also assist (and learn from) others along the way.
- In 2016 my dream came true, moving to the mountains of Colorado where I still am today. Situated at around 8500 ft elevation at the end of a dirt road, a view of the National Forest and regular visits from all sorts of wildlife.
- I was busy in my military career at that time, all of my overseas deployments over with I focused on working what we call Airborne Operations, as a Jumpmaster and Pathfinder. Falling out of aircraft was a great joy and I’ll never forget it. I wrapped up my career as a Major and Battalion Executive Officer, I could have continued but knew it was time to punch out.
I now live here in the mountains with my German Shepherd, running various outlets pursuing my own business ideas and trying to stay as prepared as possible.
So all that to say, I’ve done more than some but less than others. Thank you for allowing me to share my experiences with you and here is to another 10 years. ~ PJ
