I read an article recently that kind of made me grin and shake my head. I am sure you know the type I am referring to. This one was pretty well written and was on the topic of the fitness industry in America. It stated that gym membership and fitness program membership is at an all time high in the USA. Strangely enough, so are obesity rates and health problems related to being overweight.
There are loads of different types of exercise programs out there, all showing massive weight loss in just weeks; P90X, Insanity, Crossfit, Boot Camp (too funny), Zumba and the list goes on.
I personally find that keeping it simple works for me. I prefer to work out in private, or sometimes with my daughter, as she is getting interested in working out and trying to develop her strength. We have a heavy bag and a weight bench in the garage and have also started some light running together and are having good results with it.
My point in this post is this: find your own groove. Some people enjoy going to a gym or working out in a group of people in the above mentioned classes. If that works for you, go for it. If you’re more like me, find something that feels comfortable for you and work at it on your own. It is the results that are important, not necessarily the program you follow. If there was a unuiversally successful fitness program out there that fit everyone, there simply wouldnt be so many of them to choose from.
