Ammo Storage…..which option is better?

Stocking up on ammo using ammo cans. What are your thoughts on these two options:

1) Store one kind of ammo in each can. On the run grab the gun and the ammo can that goes with it.

Or

2) A fixed mix of ammo in many cans. If you can grab at least one can and one gun you will have some ammo.

My concern is if there is a major earth quake or other catastrophic event will I be able to recover all of my cans of ammo and all of my guns……I’d hate to wind up with a shotgun in hand and an ammo can of .22 LR.

Your ideas would be appreciated.
