A couple weeks ago I tweaked my shoulder doing some exercises in the gym. It still annoys me and keeps me from performing at my peak. Today I was running with my dog and my calf cramped up after a few miles, had to walk it the rest of the way home. Ridiculous.

As Toby Keith said: I’m not as good as I once was, but I’m as good once as I ever was.

Totally with you on that 🙂

    Hope you heal up asap.

Yeah, I kept getting nagging injuries. I took move free ultra and their gone.

So here we are in August, my shoulder is still not better. I haven’t benched in months, pushups hurt but are feasible. The good news is that I’ve dropped some weight but overall it’s annoying that injuries just don’t go away when given enough time.

I don’t think my body has forgotten a single injury, some days it remembers more than others. I broke down about the back issue and went back to the doctor about a month ago. Long story short a specialist gave me a shot of cortisone and man I was moving great. Working hard, working out hard…it’s pretty much worn off now. I am still better than before but it’s all coming back, it’s not a fix.

My shoulder injury was a pinched acromio-clavicular joint. Couldn’t raise my arm paste shoulder height at all and it was very weak. That took about two years to get pretty usable and only recently am I getting pull ups back.

It might take awhile and some things won’t ever be what you would hope for. A kind of thorn in the flesh.

My back went out this past week. It was almost unbearable…this coming from a guy who flips tractor tires during workouts. I had to roll off of my bed / couch, my daughter had to put on my socks and shoes for me…constant pain. I finally conceded and went to the ER, some meds and a few days rest managed to help but it was quite ridiculous.

This particular corner of Prepper Resources seems to be a catalogue of pain!

I’m rather glad that my budget forbids me to go to the local gym and I have to resort to brisk walks in the open air and swinging a couple of modestly sized dumbbells around!

Mind you, as I’ve said before, I’m a big lass (pushing six foot and not exactly willowy) I would LOVE to have a go at flipping a tractor tire. My teenage idols were Ripley from Alien and Red Sonja – it is my goal to reach their level of fitness and bravery…….I’ll let you know if that ever happens!

Some how I missed this post till now. Totally sucks being hurt, especially back pain. I wish there was a fix, seems like treating the symptoms is as good as it gets. I know people who went through the surgeries, seems like a 50/50 opinion on success.

Surgeries change you for life, avoid at all cost. I’ve had a couple, not exactly optimal. Living with paid sucks but IMO it’s better than surgery.

FWIW, I worked out hard this morning but ate enough fatty food at the fair this evening to make up for it.
