Let’s face it, primitive cooking is a dying art. Also, in a SHTF situation, a well prepared meal can make all the difference in the world. To validate that point, I would ask any ex-military how they felt about getting a hot meal in the field :).

MREs and Datrex bars are all well and good in an emergency. However, if you dont have them available or run out, you are going to have to prepare food in less than ideal conditions. This area is for that. Please feel free to offer up any primitive cooking tips, tricks for preparing food to make them more palatable or recipes you might have. I will be putting together some of the same in the near future.

I look forward to seing everyone’s input!

Hot food is best, but when you have to suffer through old or cold food there are two items which save the day:

    1- Tabasco sauce
    2- Salt

That said, there is nothing better than “Army Breakfast”

    – Powdered eggs, potatoes, sausage gravy covering it all slathered in hot sauce

PJ and I are of the same religion, Two points. The salt must be Kosher and the hot sauce must be Louisiana style.
