MEDIC ! MEDIC ! MEDIC !
You can scream that all you like but if/when TSHTF the only answer will come from crickets.SO…..
Where can I update my med-o-stash?
Please don’t point me to a web site that wants sell me $80.00 of band aids and gauze.
Iam looking for real supplies for real emergencies. Iam not a real Dr. but will play one if/when TSHTF.Suture kit: I Have done 30 in my own arm and six in my face.
Blood clotting agents: Never saw a gun shot but seems a needed item
Tracheotomy kit: Have cleaned and replaced my kids trach for 6 months
Splints: set 2 of my own metacarpals (not compound}
Pain meds: The best
Sleep meds: The best
Single packs of betadine: Storage and transport.
etc.
etc.
etc.The point of all that bragness above is… If we are to be truly on our own we should have the proper tools. Ok … Maybe none of us can do open brain replacement but the crap kits I have found online are nothing more than over priced boy scout-ish.
The whole idea of if/when TS(really does)HTF, real doctors will be hiding out or wish they had. It will up us to feed, shelter, and administer real life med solutions to real life problems. We will need real life tools / meds.
I once ask a Dr. to give me a prescription for oxy cotton for my bug bag. He looked at me like I was a drug dealer about ready to mug him in his own office.
While others are looting food and water you will find me at the local hospital “demanding” meds and tools. This may sound harsh but our govt. says we can’t prep with some of the most needed items.
Ideas?
Capt. Mac.September 18, 2014 at 9:04 PM #10457Echo5CharlieGuestI hate to say this openly but I know of doctors in town that really don’t care, if you ask for it you will get a rx written. I personally do not go to those as we don’t have many rx needs.
What I have done is either get meds and not use them all or skip some and save them. Also you can get antibiotics from the pet store. Is it perfect, no. Do they cover everything, no. I think it’s a ton better than nothing.
I have bought a lot of my med kit stuff from target. Bandages, wraps, tapes, cortisone, triple antibiotic, gold bond etc. But E5 there’s cheaper places and you can buy bulk…yes but I’m at target once a week and can throw in something here and there to top off supplies.
When I went through the emt course we had to provide certain items. I found the Medicine Shoppe to have quality supplies for more extensive needs.
Lastly, my wife’s a nurse and she works in the same office as the lady who orders supplies. Sometimes they have to throw supplies away and we get first dibs. Don’t hate.

I didn’t see any IV kits on your list, those are crucial….
Here’s my thoughts on medical supplies. If SHTF you need to be able to patch up bumps and bruises, cuts and abrasions etc. Light outpatient type stuff. If an injury would require a dedicated ambulance or helicopter ride to a trauma center….you are just screwed. Don’t tell me about medicinal herbs the Indians used to treat gunshot wounds to the stomach.
