I can’t wait, weather is supposed to be perfect here. I’m hoping my wife doesn’t go into labor opening day. That and the riots wait until I get back.

We tend to take an extended Thanksgiving holiday and go during that time. My daughter is going to hunt with me this year, we are both looking forward to it.

That’s awesome! I can’t wait for my daughter to hunt with me. She’s not strong enough to hold a rifle up properly or draw a 45 lb bow. Weather forecast changed, now it’s supposed to be 15 degrees and windy with snow showers. Oh well, the meat will cool nicely. Saturday is opening rifle for us. I’m hearing the verdict will be announced thanksgiving weekend, we shall see but it’s not supposed to be this weekend. Now if my wife can hold the baby a little longer everything will be perfect.

My daughter is looking forward to it, she says, am not totally sure she is ready to pull the trigger yet, but I told her if she wasnt up to it yet, that it wasnt a big deal. She has already helped me with the butchering the last few years and isnt really phased by it, was like cleaning a big squirrel she said 🙂

This weekend we will be going to the range to give her a chance to get used to the rifle again; I want her to be confortable with it before she gets a deer in the sights. tnhats worth a box of shells to me.

Good hunting, hope you get a freezer full of meat! Be sure to let me know how it goes.

Early congrats on the new addition to the family, as well. hope it goes as smoothly as possible for you and mom.

We had a great trip. My step dad got a 10 pt and I got a my nicest 9 point to date. Real thick tall tines. I always shoot for a double lung, but this year I accidentally hit the heart and left lung. He went quick and clean. I even found part of the bullet under the skin and kept it too. I’m boiling the skull for a European mount right now.

I’m a meat hunter not a trophy hunter and I was setting up to take a doe, when this beautiful buck chased her. So I took him.

My daughter is back and forth about going hunting. I’m not pushing her,if she decides she wants to I’ll be honored to help her.

We had a great time but it was exhausting. Very happy to come back to convenience.

    congrats on the buck!

I hunt for meat also, as you can’t eat horns, but given that choice, I probably would have done the same. hopefully, your daughter will get into hunting, as well, if it is for her. you’re giving her the opportunity and that’s what counts .

my daughter is looking forward to the trip next week, as am I. if she is ready, I am hoping she gets the chance to take a deer of her own.

we just had some of the last of the deer we took last year for dinner, I love it.

You can’t eat horns but that’s not what I told my daughter when she got home and I had antlers sticking out of the pot on the stove. I told her we were having antler soup! She didn’t want any though, she’s a fan of deer so I don’t get it.

Have a great trip man. Can’t go wrong with woods and family.
