Cooked up some venison last night and it turned out really well, thought I would share the recipe for anyone interested.

We used olive oil, minced garlic, rosemary, sage and black pepper, blended it and then heated it slightly (this blends the flavors together better) and then basted the roast with it. Cooked it at 300 degrees in the oven until it was medium rare, which took about 45 mins. We did a 2nd baste about halfway through the cooking process. It turned out great, the herbs really brought out the flavor of the meat without overpowering it.

Anyone else got a good recipe up their sleeve?

We have a couple go to one’s for roasts and neck. We find most people throw out the neck but we cover it in a dry steak rub and throw it in the crock pot bone in. 6-8 hours and pull it off the bone with a fork. Delicious shredded steak taste.

We do the pikes peak roast in the crock with a jar of banana peppers and let it cook all day too. We like it.

That’s a staple for us. Deer tacos was a big hit here last year too. I don’t do burgers though, we haven’t figured out a good way to do that.
