Forgot to mention, remote viewing was HUGE to me. I can easily log in from my phone and view the cameras in real time, AND hit record if I need to.
PJKeymasterA couple of things I had to consider when looking for a system
1- Affordability. Obviously I wasn’t prepared to lay out thousands of dollars for a dedicated system
2- Good reviews. Lots of systems which were in the $500-$1000 range had terrible reviews.
3- Ease of setup and use. I’m not into drilling holes into my home and running 57 cables all over the place, junction boxes and all sorts of other stuff. I wanted something I could set up in 10 minutes.
4- Weatherproof exterior cameras. While not covert or hidden, I wanted cameras that would do well in rain or harsh conditions, thus far these have held up. I like the visible deterrent, much better than the covert option.
PJKeymasterI’m torn on Yeager. He does put out some good information, but doesn’t strike me as the type I’d probably get along with so I really don’t watch much.
PJKeymasterand this one
PJKeymasterMy parents made me take piano lessons so I could play in church, it was awful and I hated it. I would play solos or duets with the organ for certain hymns. I told them I wanted to learn guitar…nope…piano for 10 years. I was pretty good but as soon as I left the house I quit and haven’t played since (although I have picked up guitar).
Forcing stuff on kids is not optimal.
PJKeymasterYes, square knot always has a half hitch on each end (aka stopper knots)
Right over left, left over right.
PJKeymasterI can do an end of line bowline pretty well, secure that with an additional half hitch. That repel you mentioned seems crazy!
PJKeymasterMy fav knot is a bowline, after that comes the square knot. Used them at least 100 times.
You mention rappelling….
Bowline at the anchor point, two round turns beyond that. Pull the rope FROM the anchor point before looping it into the carbiner. Good luck.

PJKeymasterAnd growing up as a PK (pastor’s kid), I can tell you that:
1- My parents are the most religious people I know
2- You know nothing of church on Sunday morning, invited guests over after, church on Sunday evening, Tuesday bible study, Wednesday night church, Thur night choir practice in the house…
I think some of that complete saturation with the church led to my rebellion as a young teen and adult, but I found my way back 🙂
PJKeymasterEvery man does what makes him feel comfortable, I’m not one to say how it should be done. On a funny note my wife and I have made a point to pray before taking trips (driving) and I sometimes close my eyes out of habit. Whoops! Not that safe…
Like I said I’m not super religious but I have my base, I tend to realize that my efforts on this earth are fleeting and there is a higher purpose/power. For me personally, I feel that many of the blessings bestowed upon my family are not a direct result of my awesomeness but rather because I’ve been blessed with talents and been allowed to flourish. At the end of the day, it’s all vanity anyways.
rant over.
PJKeymasterOMG. That’s hilarious.
PJKeymasterMy mom went ALL OUT for Y2K. I thought she was nuts at the time, then again I wasn’t in full prep mode by that time.
PJKeymasterdealmed.com has some good stuff.
I didn’t see any IV kits on your list, those are crucial….
Here’s my thoughts on medical supplies. If SHTF you need to be able to patch up bumps and bruises, cuts and abrasions etc. Light outpatient type stuff. If an injury would require a dedicated ambulance or helicopter ride to a trauma center….you are just screwed. Don’t tell me about medicinal herbs the Indians used to treat gunshot wounds to the stomach.
PJKeymasterI think I’d have to go with the Politician….and then do the exact opposite of what he/she suggests.
“There is nothing to worry about, we will be back online within 2 weeks!”
Translation
Nobody knows what is going on, we are screwed. Take care of yourself.

Not to mention family….
Can’t compromise on some things.
