Prepper Updates (Week of 06 JAN 2020)

I wanted to bring back something that I used to do frequently when I first started this blog back in 2012, headline updates.  Back then I did it on a daily basis and I truly don’t think that is necessary here, I think a weekly consolidation of some headlines and a few comments below each should suffice.  They could be global or local, prepper related or maybe a link to a nice deal online somewhere.  At this point I’m not compensated for mentioning any of these links, I should make that clear.  So…let’s get this started.

Lots of articles about a guy using a shower gun box but they used my picture

I saw this circulating the internet a while back, accompanied by several pictures that I posed in an article like 4 or 5 years ago, the DIY is here.  I guess they googled shower gun box and my article came up, nice of everyone to use my content without giving me credit but hey I suppose I do the same sometimes.

I’ve updated the ABOUT page on this website (that’s me)

Having never really had a page dedicated to who I am, I suppose it was time.  Lends to credibility and other things, I made sure to redact my dog’s facial features as well…he is high level!

Good to see Todd over at PrepperWebsite doing well

I used to email Todd occasionally, thankfully he is back to linking to some of my articles.  If you haven’t see his site it’s basically the Drudge Report of the Prepper community, check it out sometime if you get the chance.

Iraq and Iran, the Draft, it’s a big mess

Having served for 22 years in an all volunteer force, I just can’t see a scenario where the need for a draft would come into play unless war on a full blown global scale broke out in which case God help us all.  Society is at a point in time where folks have a multitude of options that do not involve joining the military, and so I guess it’s seen as one of those last resort type of things.  Personally I am the last in my family to serve, my father and all his siblings did, my grandfather and we have documentation of our relatives back to the Civil War.  If it’s one thing I know, while technology has improved there will always be a need for boots on ground to win conflicts.  We shall see.

Australia: Fires.  Catastrophic

Where I reside fires are our largest threat as well and I’ve always maintained that disasters on a local scale are far more prep worthy than stockpiling away for a polar shift or super volcano eruption.  What is happening right now in Australia is tragic and showcases the brutal fury of nature, there are many brave men and women out there risking their lives as I type this to save others.

Survival Food / Supplies at Emergency Essentials

I’ve purchased and stockpiled various types of supplies from many retailers, most of which I’m sure all of you have heard of as well.  My next purchase this year will be yet another year’s supply of food from Emergency Essentials.  #10 cans are great, I have basics and meals to everything in between and they are 1 layer in my food storage platform.  Over the years I have found that MRE’s typically do not get eaten, freeze dried bags (like Mountain House) are great for outdoors / travel and #10 cans store nicely.
